Disability / Aged Care Support Worker - Sydney
Job Type: Permanent/Casual part time

The Co-operative Life specialises in person-centred Disability and Aged Care Support Services and we are dedicated to working with vulnerable people and making sure that they don’t slip through the cracks.

We are growing and currently have a Support Worker vacancy working with and supporting participants to achieve their NDIS plan goals. This is an opportunity to join the Co-operative Life supporting individuals living with disability to lead meaningful lives.

 

The role duties:

We are looking for experienced Disability and Aged Care Support Workers to fill positions that we have available in the Sydney and surrounding areas.

You will provide a range of support services, dependent upon the client’s requirements, working up to 5 days a week including weekends.

You need to have experience with complex personality disorders and challenging behaviours.

You should be an empathetic and pragmatic thinker, be able to work both independently and within a team environment.

Our clients require Support Workers who will assist them to maintain and increase their independence by supporting them with personal care, domestic activities, social and community participation and transportation.

 

Professional Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Community Services
  • Minimum Cert III in Disability Support and Cert III Aged Care or Individual Support, Mental Health or Social Work Degree or similar (in progress)
  •  Individual Support Plan knowledge required
  • In-depth understanding of NDIS and Aged Care industry requirements – is a must
  • In-depth person-centred support experience
  • Empathy and the ability to build strong relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have a reliable, registered and Comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Have a current full NSW Driver’s License
  • Own a smart phone with Internet access
  • Current NDIS check
  • Current Working with Children check
  • Current Influenza and Covid 19 Vaccination Certificate for 3 doses
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Valid working rights within Australia
Interpersonal skills and experience:
  • Demonstrated capacity to collaborate as part of a diverse team and work autonomously.
  • High level of stress resilience and emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and use initiative.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated flexibility in methods of alternative and augmentative communication, particularly being able to use active listening skills.
